2nd SIIES 2019 – General Guidelines for registration and submission of papers

1 – The Scientific Committee will only consider communications that are in accordance with the format standards and that fulfill the following general conditions:
a) Each author may register up to 2 (two) papers (Oral Communication or Poster), 1 (one) as main author and 1 (one) in co-authorship. Each work can only have, at most, an author and three co-authors..
b) It will not be possible to correct or modify the texts of the communications after acceptance by the Scientific Committee.
c) Only works that fulfill these conditions and that have at least one paid registration will be able to integrate the official program, receive the corresponding Certificate and be entitled to the publication of the text.
d) The papers presented and their content are the sole responsibility of the authors.

2 – Formatting guidelines
Papers should be typed in a Microsoft Word document, font Times New Roman, size 12, spacing between lines and justified alignment.

3 – Formatting guidelines for Oral Communication 
a) The papers may be submitted and presented in Portuguese, Spanish or English. 
b) The submission of communications requires the presentation of the full text, preceded by an abstract of up to 800 characters long, including spaces between words, and three keywords. Papers whose abstracts exceed this size will not be accepted. 
c) Oral communications may include research and studies reports, case reports, academic work completed or in progress. 
d) The paper title should be in bold capital letters with centralized alignment. The names of the authors should appear just below the title of the work, aligned to the right with the identification of the institution and the authors’ e-mail. The abstract should then be presented in a single paragraph, without notes or references. Finally, before the full text of the work, there should be three keywords in lowercase, separated by semicolons. 
e) The full text, including footnotes, bibliographic references and tables, must have an extension between 10,000 and 15,000 characters, including spaces between words. 
f) The full text of the work must be sent in PDF format, with the following guidelines: A4 paper (29, 7 cm x 21 cm), top and left margins of 2.5 cm and 2 cm right and bottom. Font Times New Roman size 12, 1.5 spacing between lines and justified alignmentPages numbers must be placed on the top right corner 

4 – Specific guidelines for posters 
a) Structure and dimensions of the poster. Width: 50 cm minimum and maximum 90 cm. Height: minimum 80 cm and 120 cm. maximum. It is mandatory that the poster has a cord to hang. The text must be legible at a distance of at least 2 meters. 
b) Content of the poster. The poster must reference the Symposium and mention their authors and their institutions. The content itself should cover the title and the development of the work, the discussion of results and conclusions. Use as little text as possible and as many pictures, tables, and graphics as possible. 
c) Poster presentation. Authors are personally responsible for the delivery of their posters at the day and place of the presentation session and, also, by its removal on the last day of the eventDuring the presentation session of the posters it is necessary the presence of at least one of the authors to attend the interested public and to register the authors’ presence. 
d) What should be sent to the Scientific Committee. The abstract and the full text should be sent in separate files, in the same submission. 
e) Extension of the text. The complete text of the poster content including header, abstract and keywords, notes and references  must be between 3,000 and 5,000 characters, including spaces between words. 
f) AbstractThe abstract, consisting of a single paragraph, preceding the body of the work, must not exceed 500 characters, including spaces between words. The abstract should refer to the purpose of the work, the methodological procedures used and the results and conclusions.
g) KeywordsThree keywords in lower case, separated by semicolons, must complete the abstract. 
h) The full text of the poster must be sent in PDF format, with the following guidelines: A4 paper (29, 7 cm x 21 cm), top and left margins of 2.5 cm and 2 cm right and bottom. Font Times New Roman size 12, 1.5 spacing between lines and justified alignmentPages numbers must be placed on the top right corner. 
i) Will not be allowed: 

  • The use of overhead projector, computer, microphone and/or other electrical equipment.
  • To use sound instruments and instruments that may interfere with the presentation of others authors. 
  • Oral or performance presentation. 
  • To present in place, date or time different from what was scheduled. 
  • Presentation by non-authors. 

Note: It should appear in the body of the full text and the abstract (Paper or Poster): Name of the author, aligned to the right, with the email and name of the institution.

5 – Copyright statement 
By submitting an article to the Symposium, the authors agree to the following terms: 
a) The authors retain the rights to the article, but its publication in the Annals of the Event automatically implies the total and exclusive assignment of the rightswithout payment under the Creative Commons Attribution License CCBYNC that allows the sharing of the work with acknowledgment of authorship and initial publication in this Event. 
b) The ideas and opinions expressed in the article are the sole responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the organizers of the event. 
c) After the first publication, the authors are authorized to take on additional contractsindependent of the event, for the dissemination of the work by other means (e.g. publish in institutional repository or as a chapter of a book), provided that the current license at the time of the initial publication is observed and that the complete citation of the same authorship and the original publication are made. 
d) The authors of an article already published are allowed and encouraged to distribute their work online, always with the due citations of the first edition. 

6 – Ethics in research 
When involving human beings (interviews, experiments, etc.), it is necessary to inform obedience to the established ethical procedures for scientific research. Except in cases where there is permission for identification, it is necessary to ensure anonymity to research participants and, if necessary, to institutions; the authorization or restriction of the identification must be informed, in a note, in the body of the article. The same principle applies to the dissemination of images of people and/or institutions. 

7 – Anti-plagiarism actions 
Authors must meet the requirements of originality and unpublished of the article, and ensure the transparency of all sources and references contained in the manuscriptCompliance with these requirements and conditions will be carefully checked with the tools available 

8 – Originality
Similarities with articles and book chapters previously published, or with texts made available in other publications, will be analyzed, as to the nature of the observed similarities, from occurrence indication of the Scientific Committee. This evaluation may result in initial refusal of the article, when the similarities represent the lack of originality of the work in relation to its theoretical-methodological bases and/or its results. 

9 – Conflicts of interest 
In the case of the research developed or the publication of the article raise questions about potential conflicts of interestthe authors should declare in a final note that no connections were made with funding bodies as well as with commercial or political institutionsSimilarly, it should be mentioned the institution to which the authors are possibly related or that has collaborated in the execution of the studyevidencing that there were no conflicts of interest with the results presented. 

10 – Criteria of work evaluation by the Scientific Committee and its results 

a)The Scientific Committee evaluation is conclusive and, as such, will not be subject to reviewConsequently, we reiterate the importance of the quality of the work and the strict observance of the submission conditions, format standards and evaluation criteriaThe papers must undergo spelling and grammar revision and meet ABNT standardsIncomplete works or that have already been presented in other events or published in periodicals, books or annals of events will not be accepted.
b) The results of the works’ evaluation will be published on the Event website. 
c) Evaluation criteria of the Scientific Committee: 

  • Clarity in the formulation and development of the theme. 
  • Relevance to policy, management and construction of new knowledge for higher education mediated by digital technologies. 
  • Consistency and rigor in theoretical and methodological treatment. 
  • Correctness in the text language and in the citations and bibliographical references. 
  • Compliance with the submission conditions and formatting guidelines. 

11 – Certificate
a) The works presented in oral presentations or posters will be entitled to the certificateThe certificate will have the names of all the authors who were registered in the online submission form. 
b) The author who submitted the abstract will be responsible for providing / sending this file to the other authors of the work. 
c) The names of authors or work titles, in the certificate, will not be corrected. 
d) The certificates will be available online after the event.
